At the BRICS Ministers of Labour and Employment meeting 9–10 September 2024, the International Social Security Association (ISSA) highlighted the role of Vision Zero.
Safety and health at work was on the agenda when ministers from the ten BRICS countries met in Sochi. The ISSA contributed to the meeting and pointed out that sound OSH systems supported by innovation can contribute significantly to building a prevention culture and improving the sustainability of social security systems. The ISSA also stressed the value of Vision Zero.
“The ISSA Special Commission on Prevention was behind the successful Vision Zero campaign launched in 2017 to promote a world of work without accidents, diseases and harm. Vision Zero has since evolved into a strategy actively used by businesses, institutions, governments, and international organizations”, said the ISSA President, Dr Mohammed Azman.
