Vision Zero and industrial workplace safety on the agenda in Jaipur, India

The National Safety Council (NSC) of India successfully conducted a national-level seminar titled “Industrial Workplace Improvement for Safety & Health (I-WISH) ” in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The event, held 25– 27 September 2024, brought together 159 industrial participants from 10 states, aiming to enhance safety and health standards in industrial workplaces.

The seminar commenced with an inaugural session on “Industrial Safety @ Workplace,” jointly presented by the NSC and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CIF). This session was set against the backdrop of the recent Indo German Focal Point (IGFP) meeting with the Principal Secretary Prithvi Raj (Indian Administrative Service – IAS), emphasizing the importance of safety protocols and regulations in industrial settings. A highlight of the seminar was the presentation on the Vision Zero approach by the International Social Security Association (ISSA).

Vision Zero is a transformative approach to occupational safety and health, based on the belief that all workplace accidents, harm, and diseases are preventable. The seminar saw active participation from 159 industrial representatives across ten states, reflecting a strong commitment to improving workplace safety and health standards. The diverse range of topics and expert speakers provided valuable insights and practical solutions for enhancing safety protocols in various industrial sectors.
