Vision Zero means aiming for zero accidents and zero illnesses in the workplace.
Occupational accidents and work-related diseases are known to be among the leading causes of illnesses, disabilities, and deaths worldwide. It has been proven as well to lead to significant economic losses. Every day, more than 7,500 people die due to unsafe and unhealthy working conditions; and the global economic loss is estimated at 4 per cent of global gross domestic product (GDP). In the mining sector, the fatality rate is 8 times higher.
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) addresses this by calling for "economic growth based on decent work" (SDG 8) and "good health and well-being" (SDG 3) at work. Against this background, the International Social Security Association (ISSA) proposes a new prevention strategy: Vision Zero, developed and first introduced by the ISSA Mining Section.
This webinar will give a comprehensive understanding of Vision Zero, its 7 Golden Rules, the available tools and resources, and best practices from industry across the globe.
