A Malaysian programme to fight the rapid growth in commuting accidents has been rewarded as international good practice. The initiative takes place under the umbrella of the Vision Zero campaign.

In Malaysia, the number of commuting accidents increased by 75 per cent from 19,041 accidents in 2008 increase to 33,319 accidents in 2017. To fight this, the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) Malaysia in cooperation with the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) launched the Commuting Safety Support Program (CSSP).

More than 500 occupational safety and health (OSH) trainers have joined Vision Zero. Almost 40 participants from 18 different countries took part in the campaign’s first train the trainers workshop in Berlin, Germany, 10-11th Jan 2019.

The Workers Compensation Fund Control Board (WCFCB) of Zambia held the national launch of the Zero Vision Campaign in Livingston, Zambia on the 14th of December 2018 in collaboration with the ISSA and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security of Zambia.

In just over a year, the Vision Zero campaign has reached the milestone of more than 3000 supporters. Since the launch of the global campaign to promote safety, health and wellbeing at work during the XXI World Congress for Safety and Health 2017 in Singapore in September 2017, a number of regional and national launches have contributed to building a broad and strong Vision Zero community.

Vision Zero was launched in Japan during the Safety 2.0 International Safety Symposium 2018 organized by the Institute of Global Safety Promotion (IGSAP) on 20 November 2018 in Tokyo.

On invitation by Hans-Horst Konkolewsky, Secretary General of the International Social Security Association (ISSA), a group of safety and health managers from renowned international enterprises recently met in Geneva to discuss the establishment of a Global Vision Zero Business Forum.
The Vision Zero campaign was launched in Hong Kong on 25 October 2018 during the celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the Occupational Safety and Health Council (OSHC), the institution responsible for promoting safety and health at work and sustaining the valuable workforce of Hong Kong.
Australia is the newest country to participate in a national launch of the Vision Zero campaign, joining the ranks of successful country launches and events in Argentina, Denmark, Mongolia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Singapore, in addition to launches on all continents and the global launch one year ago.
